TL;DR

BI Data Engineer (AI): Develops data pipelines and visualization dashboards for service usage and cost, infra capacity planning, infra budget planning, and cost optimization with an accent on telemetry and visualization dashboards. Focus on designing performance experiments and collecting and analyzing data to contribute to the design and velocity of global AI products.

Location: San Francisco, CA or Bellevue, WA. Open to remote within the US.

What you will do

  • Develop data pipelines to capture granular usage and cost of infra services and applications, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and governance.
  • Identify performance and data quality problems, and drive the team to remediate them.
  • Partner with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to understand requirements and translate business problems into technical solutions.
  • Analyze current IT infrastructure usage and forecast future demand.
  • Partner with finance, product, service, and procurement teams to forecast infrastructure and licensing costs.
  • Develop models to track resource utilization, cost trends, and forecast monthly, quarterly, and yearly capacity and cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data visualization, or data engineering roles.
  • 4+ years of experience building programmatic ETL data pipelines using SQL-based technologies and platforms such as Spark, Hadoop, or Tableau Prep Builder.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java) for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Expertise in creating impactful data visualizations using Tableau, with the ability to present complex data in a clear, accessible manner.
  • Experience in capacity planning for dynamic, large-scale growth of services in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP).

Nice to have

  • Familiar with Tableau Prep Builder, AirFlow, Spark, Hadoop, Presto, Superset tools.
  • Experience in real-time analytics using tools such as Tableau and CRMA.
  • Knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem and related frameworks.
