YOUR ROLE:

You own and improve the full billing lifecycle at Kodify. You are responsible for performance, cost, fraud, compliance, and reliability across all payment flows. You identify problems, spec improvements, project manage delivery with the engineering team, and ensure billing supports revenue growth.

This is a hands-on optimisation role. You will not manage developers directly, but you will write specs, coordinate delivery, liaise with engineers, and own the outcomes. You are the go-to person for anything billing — from approval rates to scheme compliance to PSP negotiations.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Billing Performance & Optimisation

Optimise approval rates across all payment methods and regions

Reduce fraud and chargebacks while maintaining conversion

Lower processing costs and improve routing logic across MIDs and PSPs

Monitor and manage VAMP levels and other scheme monitoring programmes

Identify weak points in the billing funnel and drive fixes

Ensure retries, cascades, and smart routing are configured correctly

Run tests and experiments to improve billing conversion

Project Management of Billing Changes

Write clear specs and requirements for billing improvements

Own delivery of billing projects from idea through to launch

Coordinate with product, sales, engineering, and finance teams

Liaise directly with developers on card operation technicalities and implementation

Manage timelines and ensure changes ship correctly

Track post-launch impact and iterate based on results

Payment Card Operations

Oversee all aspects of payment card operations including 3DS rules, CDRNs, billers & billing gateway setup, MID load-balancing, and MID onboarding

Manage risk solutions configuration and best practices

Compliance & Governance

Ensure billing flows meet card scheme rules and regulatory requirements

Oversee PCI DSS compliance as it relates to billing operations, including documentation and enforcement

Maintain documentation of billing processes and compliance standards

Work with legal and compliance on audits and scheme reviews

Monitor for rule changes from schemes, banks, and regulators

Report on complaints about content to relevant authorities

Bank & PSP Management

Operational point of contact with billers, billing gateways, acquiring banks, third-party risk solutions, and business partners

Negotiate fees and contract terms with processors and acquirers

Review performance by MID and processor

Work with the President and COO to open and manage new MIDs where required

Challenge scheme monitoring cases and chargebacks

Monitoring & Issue Management

Monitor billing errors, declines, and anomalies daily

Investigate approval drops or fraud spikes

Own incident response for billing-related issues

Maintain clear escalation paths with PSPs and banks

Ensure high availability and reliability of billing systems

Data, Reporting & Dashboards

Own billing dashboards and reporting

Track KPIs: approval rate, authorisation rate, fraud rate, chargeback rate, processing cost per transaction, VAMP levels

Assist and report to the accounting team on payment card operations matters

Identify trends and recommend action

Provide weekly and monthly performance updates

Feature Development & Opportunity Identification

Identify new billing features that increase revenue or reduce risk

Explore new payment methods and regions

Evaluate new PSPs or routing solutions

Work with the sales team and product team to improve the customer checkout experience

YOU:

Significant experience (5+ years) working hands-on with billing systems, payment platforms, and the billing lifecycle end-to-end

Strong understanding of card payments, PSPs, acquirers, and payment processors

Strong data analysis & reporting skills to identify trends and drive decisions

Deep knowledge of PCI DSS compliance — comfortable owning documentation, implementation, and enforcement within billing operations

Experience with fraud tools, chargeback processes, and scheme monitoring programmes (VAMP, etc.)

Proven experience in billing or payment optimisation — improving approval rates, reducing costs, managing routing

Strong project management skills — able to write specs, manage timelines, and drive delivery across cross-functional teams

Experience with high-volume, high-traffic billing platforms

Clear written and verbal communication — you can translate billing issues for non-technical stakeholders

Self-starter who takes ownership and drives results without needing to be managed closely
