About the role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Freelance Product Design Engineer to support the design of innovative healthcare toilets for the US market. You will be responsible for transforming concepts into functional, production-ready designs, ensuring high-quality, durable, and aesthetically pleasing solutions. This is a freelance contract position, ideal for experienced designers who thrive on project-based work and bringing new products to life.

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborate closely with functional teams to design innovative toilet solutions for healthcare facilities.
  • Transform concept visuals into detailed designs, progressing from prototypes to final production-ready models.
  • Produce accurate and detailed 3D models using SolidWorks, generating drawings for manufacturing, prototyping, and marketing renders.
  • Utilize 3D printing and other prototyping methods to develop and test design concepts (knowledge of these technologies is useful but not essential).
  • Ensure designs meet functional, ergonomic, and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with manufacturers and internal teams to resolve any production or design issues.
  • Drive key new product projects forward within given target dates and budgets.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as required.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience in a Design Engineering role focused on toilets/sanitaryware.
  • You will have an understanding of specification, installation and commissioning of US Toilet/Sanitaryware systems.
  • Strong 3D CAD skills, particularly SolidWorks.
  • Experience designing furniture or products from concept through production.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with 3D printing and prototyping is advantageous but not required.
  • Understanding of US healthare regulations or standards is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
