What you will do

  • Design and maintain repeatable end-to-end benchmarks for database and AI systems.
  • Evaluate performance metrics including throughput, latency, concurrency, and stability across complex workloads.
  • Measure and optimize performance for GPU/CPU inference pipelines and data serving architectures.
  • Develop automation harnesses, scripts, and dashboards for consistent performance reporting.
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to define performance goals and influence roadmap decisions.
  • Establish standards for test hygiene, statistical rigor, and benchmark governance.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the EU or UK
  • 8+ years of experience in performance engineering, SRE, or systems engineering.
  • Strong understanding of database internals, specifically PostgreSQL.
  • Hands-on experience with benchmarking tools such as pgbench, HammerDB, or custom harnesses.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Go for automation, plus scripting in Bash.
  • Deep experience with Linux performance profiling tools like perf, flamegraphs, and eBPF.

Nice to have

  • Experience with vector databases and RAG pipeline benchmarking.
  • Knowledge of AI stack components including model serving and GPU profiling.
  • Background in storage and networking performance tuning.
