What you will do

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of Java solutions for Nasdaq Market Surveillance platforms.
  • Act as a technical leader, driving architectural decisions and ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Review and translate business and system requirements into technical designs and implementations.
  • Participate in and lead technical design discussions, code reviews, and estimation activities.
  • Proactively identify risks, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt, and drive their resolution.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, promoting best practices and improving team efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong hands-on expertise in Java.
  • Proven experience operating in a lead or senior technical role, influencing design and guiding other engineers.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise-scale systems, distributed architectures, and performance-critical applications.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency status is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in financial services or capital markets.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
