What you will do

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services and containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Quality Engineers to deliver customer-first solutions.
  • Integrate with internal systems and third-party APIs to create seamless user experiences.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and engineering strategy.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Location: Based in or able to work hybrid in Edinburgh, UK
  • Proven hands-on experience with Java and designing RESTful APIs for scalable, secure architectures.
  • Familiarity with backend frameworks such as Spring Boot and Node.js is beneficial.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Harness.
  • Knowledge of containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure.

Nice to have

  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, Pact, JUnit, Mockito, PowerMock.
  • Understanding of authentication and customer identity concepts.
