Location: Hybrid (Redmond, United States). Employees living within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week from January 26, 2026.

Salary: USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year.

What you will do

  • Define, invent, and deliver metrics that accurately measure user and business value across various products and marketplace components.
  • Think critically about sampling and experimental design across user and demand dimensions.
  • Interpret analysis results, validate approaches, and continuously iterate to improve products.
  • Partner effectively with program management, engineers, and other business areas.
  • Engage with stakeholders to produce clear, compelling, and actionable insights.
  • Make independent decisions for the team and handle difficult tradeoffs.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year data science experience.
  • OR Master’s Degree in a related field AND 3+ years data science experience.
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in a related field AND 5+ years data science experience.

Nice to have

  • 5+ years of experience in at least one programming language like Python, R, MATLAB, C#, Java, or C++.
  • Experience with real-world system building and data collection.
  • Experience driving large collaborations across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying statistics, experimentation, and metrics to generate actionable insights.
