What you will do

  • Prepare, review, negotiate, and advise on commercial agreements, focusing on SaaS, services, and procurement.
  • Support commercial contracts and partnerships with regulated electric utilities.
  • Advise cross-functional teams on legal, regulatory, and compliance for product development, licensing, and marketing.
  • Provide guidance on intellectual property, data privacy, open source, and technology licensing.
  • Identify and mitigate potential legal and business risks in contracts.
  • Support corporate housekeeping and manage outside counsel, reporting to the CLO.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in good standing.
  • 5+ years of legal practice, including in-house experience.
  • Business-forward in-house lawyer with leadership skills.
  • Experience negotiating custom commercial deals with regulated electric utilities or retail energy providers.
  • Solution-oriented, strategic, and self-starter with exceptional judgment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and superior interpersonal skills.
