What you will do
- Manage and coach a growing team of software engineers, driving code quality, predictability, and delivery.
- Oversee technical decisions, architecture, and technology choices for high-performance enterprise products.
- Implement and champion engineering excellence initiatives, including metrics-driven process improvements.
- Coordinate release quality metrics and ensure timely, secure deliveries through CI/CD pipelines.
- Develop and mentor engineering talent while fostering a culture of innovation and creativity.
- Perform deep-dive analysis to reduce technical debt and optimize system performance.
Requirements
- Must be able to work onsite 5 days per week in Ipswich or Bristol.
- Must be eligible for and hold UK Security Clearance (SC).
- Extensive experience in full-stack development (React, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Java, SQL).
- Proven experience in leading teams and managing software engineering lifecycles (SDLC).
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD, secure-by-design principles, and microservices architecture.
- Experience managing team delivery to ISO9001 standards.
Nice to have
- Experience running Scrum ceremonies and deep knowledge of Agile methodologies.
- Ability to perform code reviews and provide technical justification for refactoring.
- Background working with UX teams or making sound autonomous UX design decisions.
- Experience mentoring junior developers and working with diverse tech stacks for system integration.
