What you will do

  • Lead and grow a team of 9+ engineers, providing coaching and direct feedback to build a strong, accountable team culture.
  • Set and drive the technical and product direction for Plaid in Europe, partnering with Product, Design, and business leaders.
  • Shape the roadmap, identify high-leverage opportunities, and make tradeoffs between speed, risk, and long-term investments.
  • Dive deep on technical design to unblock complex problems and maintain quality and reliability in production.
  • Represent engineering in leadership discussions to guide business decisions and align European priorities with company strategy.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of industry experience, including time as a Staff-level engineer before transitioning into management.
  • 2-3+ years of engineering management experience.
  • Track record of building and growing strong engineering teams through coaching and clear goal-setting.
  • Experience owning a production product area and partnering with Product and business stakeholders.
  • Experience designing and evolving scalable, reliable systems that support real-world products at scale.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to dive deep into architecture.

Nice to have

  • Experience operating in fintech, payments, credit, or other regulated domains.
  • Experience leading teams in international or multi-region environments.
  • Startup or founder experience.
