What you will do
- Manage and mentor a team of software engineers focused on authentication and authorization.
- Define the strategy for identity and access management at Canva.
- Ensure a balance between security, compliance, and developer experience.
- Own development methodology including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and IT teams to build scalable security systems.
- Champion the adoption of newly built identity features across the organization.
Requirements
- Must be based in Australia
- Solid understanding of authentication technologies (SAML, OIDC, OAuth, access proxies).
- Experience designing and building platform features end-to-end.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang, Python, or Java.
- Experience with Zanzibar-style authorization or attribute-based access control systems.
- Strong coaching and leadership skills for engineering teams.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with policy-as-code (OPA, rego).
- Knowledge of infrastructure tools like Terraform, Helm, or Kubernetes.
- Understanding of audit and compliance frameworks (ISO27001, SOC 2, FedRAMP).
- Experience with corporate identity and IGA systems (Okta, Lumos).
- Understanding of emerging AI access patterns.
