Location: Mexico City. This is an in-office role with high cross-team visibility.

What you will do

  • Own legal and compliance matters across Jeeves' credit and payments operations in Mexico.
  • Counsel the business on Mexican financial regulations, with emphasis on SOFOMs, SOFIPOs, and the broader fintech and payments regulatory framework.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate corporate and commercial agreements across the business.
  • Proactively identify legal risks and manage corporate governance, filings, and policy development.
  • Cover privacy, AML/CFT, tax, collections, and marketing/product review.

Requirements

  • At least 7+ years of law firm or in-house counsel experience, with a focus on fintech, banking, or corporate law.
  • Deep knowledge and experience of SOFOM and SOFIPO regulations.
  • Expertise in corporate law, with experience advising on vendor contracts, customer contracts, and commercial matters.
  • Strong drafting, negotiating, and advising skills, coupled with business acumen.
  • Full professional fluency in Spanish and English required.
  • Solutions-oriented and pragmatic mindset.

Nice to have

  • 2-4 years of experience working with technology startups, preferably at an early-stage financial technology company.
  • Experience in Colombia and LATAM at large.
